“Speaking at Intersolar Europe in 2017, former Indian power minister Piyush Goyal noted that two-thirds of the buildings that will be in existence in India in 2030 are yet to be built. Moreover, its workforce will grow by 300 million net over the next 10 years, such is the youth of this South Asian giant.” This much building is going to require a lot of vanadium.

Good find there Griffin ! Found this on PNNL’s website about the Iron Vanadium Flow Battery….. https://energystorage.pnnl.gov/grid.asp …. I will be looking for those companies that have the rights to this battery….Cowboy
CC–NP…. Hey Griffin…I thought that I remembered reading something about the 3rd generation Vanadium solution somewhere. It was from my April 25th post of this write up… https://www.energy-storage.news/news/chemours-partners-uet-to-boost-flow-batteries-in-marketplace referring to this public company … https://www.chemours.com/ … (who makes the special membrane within the 3rd gen battery) …where they are partnering with this company… http://www.uetechnologies.com/news … in developing the newest battery with PNNL’s Iron Vanadium solution. So UTE should be one of the companies ( which is private from what I can tell ) and maybe ( ? ) they consider Chemours the second company ?…Cowboy
I think your r5ight on UET should have been a ‘no brainer’, unfortunately UET is private. Chemours I haven’t seen their name mention any place else so I’m more inclined to think it would be one of the big installers Sunpower or Sunnen. The electrolyte doesn’t get mentioned much in the media.

Hey Griffin..Did you notice how in most of these news releases the chance of fire keeps coming up ? That was my original concern for the grid storage batteries using Lithium back when this battery thread started. That is why I feel the VFRB’s will be the best for grid storage. The amount of growth being projected yearly in this area of storage is unreal ! Hope we can catch a winner in this stuff ! ….Cowboy
Fire keeps getting mentioned and it is a valid concern a good fire control system should mitigate fire. I don’t know the cost of a Halon or Foam but either should do that should control any fire. It would also level the cost difference. Actually a combination of both battery types is a better installation.
VFRBs are picking up speed slowly. What I’m reading is financing, PPAs. large utilities, Shell Oil. Shell oil looks like they are going big on energy storage with there recent acquisitions. It is still a little early to see a winner in storage. I have about a half dozen vanadium stocks in Australia but most all of my stocks are down 25-50% so I’m in a holding pattern. The only addition I’m thinking about is VRB they are I believe bottomed. What we need is someone in charge with a plan..
