WHITE PAPER: Managing solar assets for corporate PPAs
note: requires email registration. “The corporate PPA market is one of the fastest-growing sources of new demand for US solar developers. US corporate renewable PPAs tripled in 2018 to 8.5 GW, to represent more than 60% of deals, BloombergNEF (BNEF) said in a report published in January 2019.2 This was significantly above the global growth rate, which rose 120% to 13.4 GW in 2018, BNEF said. The US is by far the biggest market worldwide for corporate renewable energy PPAs, accounting for 9.1 GW out of 13.4 GW globally in 2018”

Hi Griffin, Thanks for all your solar energy posts. I see that INVESCO EXCHANG/SOLAR ETF $TAN is up over 50% YTD. Solar appears to finally be burgeoning. Can you share which stocks you are invested in?
Always happy to answer questions most of what I have is in battery metals and those are in Australia. I have two that are directly related to solar Real Goods Solar, Inc. ($RGSE) http://www.rgsenergy.com and Envision Solar International, Inc. ($EVSI) http://www.envisionsolar.com. Real Goods has been in business since 1978 they make a solar shingle and ,,,. Their shingles are more efficient than Tesla shingles. Solar customers prefer shingles to panels and will pay more. That said I haven’t seen much movement from the sto0ck and as fast as technology is moving in solar I may have to go back and take another look at RGSE. Envision announced yesterday a 50 unit follow on order and up $0.59 today. They make a stand alone solar panels and battery unit for charging EVs. I do like ENSI but after their reverse split I need to find funds to buy more.
Thanks for $TAN. I bought into VanEck Vectors Rare Earth/Strategic Metals ETF (REMX) because they were up 46% last year this year the sector seems be down in general.
Best of luck.

Right on — solar and wind energy will never be big grid power provders because the wind doesn’t blow at times and the sun doesn’t shine at night. The latter could be fixed by making Earth stop rotating with USA facing the Sun while condemning Europe and points East to moonlight only.
Moonlight power for Europe and Points East needs lots of funding by environmental proponents who could promise power so cheap it need not be metered anymore. But this would require a government bailout and massive new government funding for any residual electric meter readers who may still be around while defying the buggy-whip conservationist syndrome.
Heh heh….Hey 1paglee, what’s a buggywhip?
Oh, that right. Those things that you needed to move your horses and carriages around before cars……..and trains…….and airplanes…..and rockets……..get my drift?
Don’t take this personally, but LOTS of people don’t have a clue as to where we are at this minute, with future plans for “stored electricity”. Matter of fact, there are plenty of ways to store it now, but the idea is still off the radar to most. By next year, plenty more people will be discussing the many possibilities. Some here have been discussing it for years already.
As for free electricity, forget about it! Never happen. Ask Tesla about that one. Nikola Tesla , that is.
Solar or Wind + VFRB BATTERY = constant power
2019 is probably the last chance to invest in #battery metals at deep discounts. Roskill’s report today suggests supply deficits for #lithium as early as next year and continuing beyond that. #graphite #cobalt #nickel and #copper will see huge demand surges.
